Numerical Investigation of the Geometrical Effect on Flow-Induced Vibration Performance of Pivoted Bodies

In this study, the Flow-Induced Vibration (FIV) of pivoted cylinders (at a distance) is numerically investigated as potential source energy harvesting. particular, we investigate effect pivot point placement, arm length, and natural frequency on FIV performance six different cross sections in Reynolds number around 1000. All have similar mass, area, moment inertia to eliminate non-geometrical effects performance. Classical studies show that synchronization phenomenon (lock-in) occurs when vortex formation close enough body’s frequency.
